Treehouse Campaign Tops Goal
Thanks to the generosity of the community, the Metroparks Toledo foundation has surpassed its goal to raise $1.5 million to build the country's largest public treehouse village at Oak Openings.

In order to reach a broad segment of the population and provide exciting new ways of connecting them to nature, Metroparks staff dreamed big.
They knew park visitors were already plying the waters and trails with kayaks and bikes. What was missing? That's when they remember the treehouses of their childhood.
The concept of a treehouse village became a vision when newly-acquired land in Swanton offered the perfect setting and the potential for a full-service trailhead.
After consulting on location and design with Nelson Treehouse and Supply, of the TV show Treehouse Masters, the vision became a project. The now-completed Treehouse Village features four treehouses and three tent/hammock platforms for overnight camping, as well as a common treehouse linked by a canopy walk. It is ADA accessible and designed to meet the needs of individuals as well as groups.

Project Complete
Because of the support of our entire community and beyond, we were able to surpass our goal of raising $1.5 million, making the Cannaley Treehouse Village a reality.
The Treehouse Village officially opened in July 2020, welcoming its first guests that summer. Demand for stays was so great in the first year that Metroparks utilized a raffle system to ensure everyone interested in staying received an equal chance to reserve their night in the trees.
In order to ensure everyone in our community has the opportunity to enjoy this incredible place, Metroparks reserves Monday and Tuesday of every week as Community Days, providing free use of the Treehouse Village to community groups and nonprofits. The village will also host children participating in the Metroparks Connections Camp program each summer.
